Why it matters
Climate change, inefficient energy use and land consumption is increasingly detrimental to our natural ecosystems and is progressively noticeable in our day to day lives. Due to this, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the impact that manufacturing has on our environment so choosing to use quality recycled materials has never been more important. Our habits around minimising waste and using natural materials is becoming more apparent and this is for all facets of life.
The ‘built environment’ makes up around 20% of New Zealand’s total consumption emissions – a statistic that needs to improve with further forethought into material selection and performance. New Zealand is experiencing a cultural shift and general awareness around what productivity can look like moving forward.
Interlink has been supplying New Zealand reclaimed timber products for over 10 years. Our business started in the grassroots of the ‘Green Building’ and has been growing ever since as the sustainability movement has evolved. Our reclaimed timber is a part of the growing change towards sustainable design and minimising the impact on the environment. As the demand for consciously considered designs grows, we hope to see our products used more and more to help make an impact.

Our causes
Interlink works with and support organisations who provide tools, resources, and knowledge to the building industry.
We are members of the Living Future Institute, supporting the innovation of this great organisation and its ethos. “To lead and support the transformation toward communities that are socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative.”
Interlink is an advocate for Treesthatcount. A fantastic movement to gift or donate long-life native trees within NZ and a great way to support community organisations and our delicate localised ecosystems.
Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust is a Wanaka community-based native plant nursery that specialises in propagating plants of local origin (Upper Clutha region) and uses these plants for regional native habitat restoration. Hands on local care.
As a proactive marketplace participant, Interlink aims to supply for New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) best practices, assessments and ratings. Truly getting behind what we believe will be a more sustainable future.
We encourage industry and individuals to pursue what’s right, that’s why we endorse #architectsdeclarenz .
For every Kiwi the Westpac Rescue Helicopter can make all the difference, so we donate annually.
